Dr Andrei Catanchin is a cardiologist / electrophysiologist with expertise in heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation (AF) and other arrhythmias. He performs both cryoballoon (‘freezing’) and radiofrequency (‘heating’) catheter ablation procedures for all arrhythmias, as well as pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs) and loop recorders with remote monitoring of these devices.
Dr Catanchin established complex arrhythmia mapping and cryoballoon AF ablation at Epworth in 2013, and since 2019 has pioneered ‘zero fluoroscopy’ (x-ray radiation) techniques in catheter ablation. He is a member of the Cardiac Sciences Executive Committee and a Senior Lecturer with the University of Melbourne, regularly teaching at all levels with ongoing involvement in clinical research and frequently speaking at local and national meetings.
